Aidan's Journey
Aidan's journey began on Monday, Dec 3rd 2007 when we received a phone call that came so unexpectedly. After leaving work, we received a panicked phone call from the Kaiser Peds staff saying that at that moment his blood panels had come back from a check up that morning and Aidan was critically anemic. Do not stop for anything-dinner, clothes, nada. Drive directly to the ER and check right in. The blood tests he had taken earlier that day revealed that every part of his blood test-hemoglobin, white and red cells etc were critically low and further tests needed to be done asap. Hours later he was given two units of blood and platelets. The next morning tests confirmed our worst fears. Aidan's blood was full of cancer as he was diagnosed Tuesday night with Leukemia (Acute Myeloid Leukemia).

Along with Brian's phenomenal gift, Aidan received a large donation from the staff and parents of my school RHDANA. Our cup runneth over and a good thank you is coming your way as well-we are so grateful for all your love and support.

Bridgett's brother Brian Kettering decided to stretch his Angel wings last month and delivered to Aidan the most beautiful adjustable memory foam mattress imaginable. In his quest for some help as to how to obtain this gift he contacted some of his colleagues in the bedding industry, NEIL FRIEDMAN, National Sales Manager for Primo International and DAVID ITZKOVITZ, President of Primo International. The decision to donate this bed to Aidan was a true Random Act of Kindness since these two amazing gentlemen have never met Aidan or our family. This speaks volumes for the character of Brian and the relationships he makes and we are so profoundly grateful for this very special gift-there are few words to say but know that our hearts speak volumes. Aidan sleeps at night again, after nightmares and relentless aches and pains associated with the chemo and his muscles. Mommy sleeps at night when Aidan sleeps at night and our household is peaceful. Of course, we cannot get Brian's nephews, Corey and Bryson OUT of the bed when they come but Aidan is always happy to share.

- Hi my name's Aidan Freund and I am a 3rd grader at RHDANA elementary. I love school and especially playing handball. My teacher is Mr. Beyer and he is really cool. I can't wait to get better so I can see all of my friends again. I love Legos and Bionicles and right now I am working on making my own Lego city in my room. My best friends are Corey and Bryson because they make me laugh and we have known each other since we were born.

Boy do I love seeing that big smile on your face and you wearing the Clemson gear we sent to you! I hope you will watch the Chick-fil-a "Peach" Bowl on New Year's eve, and help me cheer the Tigers on to victory! The Clemson Tigers are my favorite team because that is where my son went to college, and it is close to where I live. Cheering for my Tigers team is one of my favorite things to do! I work with your Grandpa at Fluor in Greenville, South Carolina. He is really nice, a hard worker, and funny too....don't you think?
